How to Knit Double Ivy Baby Vest with Two Skewers

Knitting is a great way to create beautiful and functional items for your loved ones. One popular project for babies is the Double Ivy Baby Vest. This versatile and cozy garment is perfect for keeping your little one warm and stylish. In this post, we will go through the step-by-step process of knitting a Double Ivy Baby Vest using only two skewers.

Materials Needed:

  • Two skeins of yarn
  • Two skewers, size 8
  • Stitch marker
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors

Instructions:

Step 1: Begin by casting on 64 stitches using your first skein of yarn.

Step 2: Next, knit in garter stitch (knit every stitch) for the first 6 rows.

Step 3: On the 7th row, switch to your second skein of yarn and knit 1 stitch. Place a stitch marker, then knit 26 stitches. Slip the next stitch to the right-hand skewer, knit the following stitch, and then pass the slipped stitch over the knit stitch. This creates a decrease.

Step 4: Knit the next 10 stitches, then repeat the decrease stitch. Place another stitch marker, knit 26 stitches, and knit the last stitch in your row.

Step 5: Knit in garter stitch for the next 6 rows.

Step 6: On the 13th row, switch back to your first skein of yarn and knit in garter stitch for the next 26 stitches. Place a stitch marker, knit 2 stitches together, then knit the next 10 stitches. Place another stitch marker, knit 2 stitches together, knit the next 26 stitches, and knit the last stitch in your row.

Step 7: Knit in garter stitch for the next 6 rows.

Step 8: Repeat steps 3 through 7 until you have a total of 12 sections.

Step 9: Once you have completed all 12 sections, bind off your stitches and sew the seams of your vest together using a tapestry needle.

Congratulations, you have now successfully knitted a Double Ivy Baby Vest with two skewers!
