Beef and Macaroni Bake with Cheesy Top Recipe

This hearty beef and macaroni bake delivers tender pasta coated in a rich tomato sauce with perfectly seasoned ground beef. Beef and Macaroni Bake with Cheesy Top Ingredients

1 pound 93% lean ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
2 cups shredded reduced-fat cheddar cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Beef and Macaroni Bake with Cheesy Top Directions
Preheat oven to 350°F.
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
Add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook until the onion is soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
Stir in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for exactly 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, cook the elbow macaroni in boiling water until al dente, about 7 minutes. Drain well.
Combine the cooked macaroni with the beef and tomato mixture in the skillet. Stir until evenly mixed.
Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
Sprinkle the shredded reduced-fat cheddar cheese evenly over the top, then sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese.
Bake in the preheated oven for 28 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Let the bake rest for 5 minutes before serving.
