Knit Embossed Vines Pattern Baby Cardigan

How to Knit Embossed Vines pattern Baby Cardigan

If you're looking for a unique and adorable baby cardigan pattern, the embossed vines pattern is a great choice. This pattern features a lovely vine texture that is perfect for both boys and girls, and it's surprisingly easy to knit.

Materials You'll Need:

  • 4 balls of baby yarn (in the color of your choice)
  • Size 6 knitting needles
  • Stitch markers
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle
  • Buttons (optional)

Step 1: Gauge Swatch

Before you start knitting, it's important to make a gauge swatch to ensure your cardigan fits properly. Using your size 6 knitting needles, cast on 20 stitches and knit in stockinette stitch (knit one row, purl one row) for 4 inches. Measure the number of stitches per inch, and adjust your needle size if needed to get the correct gauge.

Step 2: Back Panel

Cast on 45 stitches and knit in embossed vines model until the back panel measures 9 inches.

Step 3: Armhole Shaping

Bind off 3 stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows. Knit in pattern until the armhole measures 5 inches. Bind off the remaining stitches.

Step 4: Front Panels

Cast on 25 stitches for each front panel. Knit in embossed vines pattern until the front panels measure 7 inches.

Step 5: Neck Shaping

On the next row, knit 12 stitches for the first front panel, and then bind off the next 9 stitches for the neck shaping. Finish the row in pattern. On the next row, knit in pattern until the neck shaping, and then cast on 9 stitches to replace the ones that were bound off. Knit in pattern for the remaining stitches.

Step 6: Shoulder Shaping

At the armhole edge, bind off 3 stitches once. Then, decrease 1 stitch at the same edge every other row 2 more times. Bind off the remaining stitches.

Step 7: Finishing

Sew the shoulder seams together using a mattress stitch. Sew the side seams together using the same stitch. Weave in all ends with a yarn needle. If desired, add buttons to the front panels.

Conclusion

Knitting a baby cardigan can be a rewarding and enjoyable project, and the embossed vines pattern is a great way to add a unique touch to your creation. With a little patience and attention to detail, you can create a beautiful and cozy sweater for the special little one in your life.
