How to Knit a Baby Cardigan with Two Skewers

If you're looking to create a cozy and cute baby cardigan with just two skewers, you're in the right place! Knitting can be a fun and rewarding hobby, and making clothing for loved ones is a great way to showcase your skills. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to knit a baby cardigan with two skewers.

Materials Needed

  • 2 skewers (size 6-8)
  • Worsted weight yarn (2 skeins)
  • Scissors
  • Darning needle
  • Buttons or snaps (optional)

Instructions

1- Cast on 46 stitches using the long-tail cast-on method.
2- Knit in garter stitch (knitting every row) until the piece measures 6 inches in length.
3- Begin shaping the armholes by knitting 10 stitches, binding off the next 8 stitches, and then knitting the remaining 28 stitches. Turn your work.
4- Knit 10 stitches, cast on 8 stitches using the backward loop method, and then knit the remaining 28 stitches. Turn your work.
5- Continue knitting in this manner, decreasing 1 stitch at the beginning and end of every right-side row until you have 36 stitches remaining on your skewers.
6- Knit in garter stitch until the piece measures 9 inches in length.
7- Begin shaping the neckline by knitting 18 stitches, binding off the next 10 stitches, and then knitting the remaining 18 stitches. Turn your work.
8- Knit 18 stitches, cast on 10 stitches using the backward loop method, and then knit the remaining 18 stitches. Turn your work.
9- Continue knitting in this manner, decreasing 1 stitch at the beginning and end of every right-side row until you have 22 stitches remaining on your skewers.
10- Knit in garter stitch for another 2 inches.
11- Bind off all stitches, and sew the side seams together using the darning needle.
12- Add buttons or snaps to the front of the cardigan if desired.

And that's it! You've just knitted a beautiful baby.
