Tunisian crochet tutorial step by step

Tunisian crochet is a unique crochet technique that combines elements of both crochet and knitting. Here are the steps to get started:

Begin with a Tunisian crochet hook. These hooks are longer than regular crochet hooks and have a stopper on the end to prevent stitches from slipping off.

Make a foundation chain. This is the first row of stitches and it is worked in the same way as a regular crochet chain.

Work the first row of stitches. Insert the hook into the second chain from the hook, yarn over and pull up a loop. Continue to do this in each chain until you have a loop on the hook for every stitch in the foundation chain.

Work the second row of stitches. Insert the hook from right to left under the next vertical bar, yarn over and pull up a loop. Continue to do this across the row.

Repeat steps 3 and 4 until you have the desired length of fabric.

To create the final row, work a "return pass." This is done by yarning over and pulling through one loop on the hook, and then yarning over and pulling through two loops at a time until you reach the end of the row. This creates a series of chain stitches across the top of the fabric.

Continue to work additional rows in this manner, alternating between forward and return passes, until the fabric is the desired length.

Tunisian crochet can be used to create a variety of stitch patterns and textures, so feel free to experiment and have fun with it! With practice, you can create beautiful, unique projects using this technique.
