Southern 3-Ingredient Sausage Pinwheels Directions:
Preheat the oven to 375°F.
Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Crumble the breakfast sausage into a medium skillet over medium heat.
Cook the sausage stirring often for 8 minutes until fully browned with no pink remaining.
Drain off any excess grease.
Let the sausage cool for 5 minutes.
Stir together the softened cream cheese and the cooled sausage in a mixing bowl until evenly combined.
Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a lightly floured surface.
Pinch and press the perforated seams together to form one solid rectangle.
Press the dough into a 12 by 8 inch rectangle.
Spread the sausage and cream cheese mixture evenly over the dough leaving a 1/2 inch border along one long edge.
Roll the dough up tightly into a log starting from the long edge opposite the border.
Place the roll seam side down.
Slice the log into 3/4 inch thick slices using a sharp serrated knife.
Lay the slices flat on the prepared baking sheet spacing them 2 inches apart.
Bake for 15 minutes until the pinwheels are golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes on the pan.
Serve warm.
