Ladies socks with two needles

SUBSCRIBE

Here's a basic pattern for making ladies' socks with two knitting needles:

Materials:

Fingering weight sock yarn (about 300-400 yards)

Size 1 (2.25mm) knitting needles

Scissors

Tapestry needle

Instructions:

Note: These socks are worked from the top down.

Cast on 60 stitches. Divide the stitches onto two needles, with 30 stitches on each needle.

Knit 2, purl 2 ribbing for 2 inches (5 cm).

Knit in stockinette stitch (knit every round) until the sock measures about 7 inches (18 cm) from the cast-on edge.

    Begin shaping the heel:

Row 1: Knit 30, turn work.

Row 2: Slip 1 purlwise, purl 29, turn work.

Row 3: Slip 1 purlwise, knit 28, knit 2 together, turn work.

Row 4: Slip 1 purlwise, purl 27, purl 2 together, turn work.

Row 5: Slip 1 purlwise, knit 26, knit 2 together, turn work.

Repeat rows 4 and 5 until 16 stitches remain.

Knit across the 16 stitches, then pick up and knit 14 stitches along the side of the heel. Knit in the round across the 30 stitches on the other needle. Pick up and knit 14 stitches along the other side of the heel. Knit 8 stitches from the first needle. Place a marker to indicate the beginning of the round.

    Begin shaping the toe:

Round 1: Knit to 3 stitches before the marker on the first needle, knit 2 together, knit 1, slip marker, knit 1, knit 2 together, knit to 3 stitches before the end of the round on the second needle, knit 1, knit 2 together, knit 1.

    Round 2: Knit all stitches.

Repeat rounds 1 and 2 until you have 20 stitches remaining (10 stitches on each needle).

Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread the tail onto a tapestry needle and pull it through the remaining 20 stitches. Pull tight to close the toe and weave in the end.

Repeat the pattern to make the second sock.

This basic pattern can be customized to fit different sizes by adjusting the number of stitches and the length of the sock. You can also add any desired embellishments or decorations to the socks, such as a crochet border or pom poms.
