Easy Two Needle Knitting Pattern Explained

SUBSCRIBE

One of the easiest vest patterns to knit with two needles is the simple garter stitch vest. This pattern involves using only the basic knit stitch, which is great for beginner knitters who are just starting out.

Here's a basic pattern for a garter stitch vest:

Materials:

Worsted weight yarn (about 300-400 yards)

Size 8 (5mm) knitting needles

Scissors

Tapestry needle

Instructions:

Back:

    Cast on 70 stitches.

Knit every row until the piece measures about 13 inches (33 cm) from the cast-on edge.

Shoulders:

Bind off 14 stitches at the beginning of the next two rows.

Knit the remaining 42 stitches for another 4 inches (10 cm).

    Bind off all stitches.

Front:

    Cast on 35 stitches.

Knit every row until the piece measures about 13 inches (33 cm) from the cast-on edge.

Shoulders:

Bind off 14 stitches at the beginning of the next row.

Knit the remaining 21 stitches for another 2 inches (5 cm).

    Bind off all stitches.

Assembly:

Sew the front and back shoulders together.

Sew the sides of the vest together.

    Weave in all ends.

This pattern can be adjusted to fit your size by increasing or decreasing the number of stitches you cast on and the length of the vest. Additionally, you can add buttons or a zipper to the front for a little extra flair.
