Stuffed Onion Bombs Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • Peel onions and slice the tops off. Carefully hollow out centers, leaving thick outer layers to form “onion cups.” Reserve the centers for another use.

  • In a bowl, combine ground turkey, bread crumbs, egg, milk, 3 tbsp barbecue sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly.

  • Fill each onion cup halfway with meat mixture, press a cheese cube in, then cover with more meat mixture to fill.

  • Top each stuffed onion with a half slice of turkey bacon.

  • Place onions upright on prepared baking sheet. Bake for 35 minutes.

  • Remove, brush tops with the remaining ⅓ cup barbecue sauce, and return to oven for 10 minutes until sauce caramelizes and internal temperature reaches 165°F.

  • Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
