  • In a bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let sit for 10 minutes until frothy.

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, oatmeal, and salt.

  • Add the yeast mixture, warm milk, oil, and egg. Mix to form a soft dough.

  • Knead for 10 minutes on a floured surface until smooth and elastic.

  • Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour until doubled in size.

  • Prepare the filling:
     - For meat: Cook ground turkey with diced onion and spices, then cool.
     - For cheese: Use small cubes of reduced-fat mozzarella.
     - For veggies: Mix cooked spinach with crumbled fat-free feta.

  • Punch down the risen dough and divide into 20 equal pieces.

  • Flatten each piece, add a spoonful of filling, and seal the edges.

  • Roll into balls and place on a greased baking tray.
