Irresistible Mozzarella Cheese Sticks Directions:

  • Unwrap the mozzarella string cheese sticks and cut each stick in half to make 24 pieces.
  • Place the whole wheat flour in one shallow bowl, the beaten eggs in another, and mix the whole wheat breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning in a third bowl.
  • Dredge each cheese stick in the flour, shaking off any excess. Dip it into the beaten eggs, then coat with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing the crumbs to adhere.
  • For extra crispiness, repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating. Place the coated cheese sticks on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 1 hour to prevent the cheese from leaking during frying.
  • Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat, and lightly coat it with cooking spray or a small amount of vegetable oil. Once hot, carefully add the frozen mozzarella sticks in batches.
  • Fry for 1-2 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
