Healthy Frosting Directions:

  • Gently heat the coconut oil in a small saucepan over low heat until fully melted, or microwave in short bursts, stirring in between to avoid overheating.

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted coconut oil, maple syrup, and cocoa powder until smooth and glossy.

  • Gradually add the applesauce, starting with 1 cup. Mix thoroughly, adjusting the amount to achieve your preferred consistency.

  • Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes to allow the frosting to thicken slightly.

  • After chilling, check the texture. If too thick, add a little more applesauce or maple syrup. For a thicker frosting, mix in 1-2 tbsp of coconut flour and combine well.

  • If necessary, refrigerate longer until it reaches the desired consistency.

  • Let the frosting sit at room temperature for a few minutes before spreading on cakes, cupcakes, or desserts.
