Greek Pastitsio Ingredients:

For the Pasta Base

  • 10 oz dry whole wheat ziti pasta – Barilla Whole Wheat Ziti

  • 3 egg whites – Eggland’s Best

  • 1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese – Kraft Grated Parmesan

  • Salt, for boiling water

For the Meat Sauce

  • 2 tsp olive oil – Pompeian Extra Light Olive Oil

  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped – fresh

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced – fresh

  • 16 oz 96% lean ground beef – Laura’s Lean Beef

  • 2 tbsp tomato paste – Hunt’s Tomato Paste

  • 1 cup crushed tomatoes – Tuttorosso Crushed Tomatoes

  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon – McCormick

  • 1/8 tsp ground clove – McCormick

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

For the Béchamel Sauce

  • 1 tbsp light butter – Land O Lakes Light Butter

  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour – Gold Medal

  • 2 1/2 cups skim milk – Fairlife Skim Milk

  • 2 egg yolks – Eggland’s Best

  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg – McCormick

  • 1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese – Kraft Grated Parmesan

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
