Golden Puff Pastry Fruit Turnovers Directions:

  • Peel, core, and finely chop the apples into small cubes.

  • In a nonstick skillet over medium heat, cook apples with Swerve brown and white sweeteners, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and salt. Stir for 5–7 minutes.

  • Add cornstarch and cook until thickened. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla, and cool completely.

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

  • Lay out 2 sheets of filo stacked, spray lightly with cooking spray, and cut into 3 rectangles. Repeat with remaining sheets to make 6 turnovers total.

  • Place 1–2 tbsp of the cooled filling onto each rectangle. Fold into triangle or roll like a log. Seal with fork or by folding.

  • Brush lightly with whisked egg and sprinkle with additional cinnamon if desired.

  • Line a tray with parchment. Bake for 12–15 minutes, until golden and crisp.

  • Cool slightly before drizzling with powdered glaze (optional).
