Weight Watchers French Bread Rolls Directions:

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Stir and let sit for 10 minutes until foamy.

  • Stir in salt, 2 cups of whole wheat flour, and oil. Gradually add bread flour ½ cup at a time, mixing until the dough pulls away from the sides.

  • Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  • Place dough into a lightly oiled bowl, turning to coat. Cover with a damp cloth and let rise in a warm area for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  • Deflate the dough, turn it onto a floured surface, and divide into 16 equal portions.

  • Shape each into a round roll and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet, spaced about 2 inches apart. Cover and let rise for 40 minutes until doubled.

  • Preheat oven to 400°F.

  • Bake the rolls for 18–20 minutes, or until golden brown on top.

  • Let cool slightly before serving.
