Divide the batter evenly between two bowls. Stir the cocoa powder into one half until evenly chocolate-colored.
Spoon alternating layers of plain and chocolate batter into the loaf pan. Gently swirl through the batter a few times with a butter knife or wooden skewer to create a marble pattern without blending the colors completely.
Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack and cool completely before cutting into 12 slices.
